Hardware Subscription – a new way to own computers

Whereas end-user computing devices have traditionally been purchased, either outright or through a lease, HP Subscription offers a lower cost ‘rent and return’ alternative.

It is ideal for businesses that consistently follow a three years (or less) refresh cycle. Instead of buying, you rent. It gives you a predictable and very attractive monthly cost, which is less than the cost of purchasing through a lease – since HP Subscription already factors in the device’s residual value, you are effectively only paying the cost of depreciation.

And at the end of the period you simply return the devices and refresh with new devices on a new subscription.

There is three years extended warranty included, which provides next business day onsite repair, as well as the option of enhancing this (eg to include cover away from the office and/or accidental damage).

Your HP Subscription can also include software, such as end point security or Microsoft Office, and bespoke hardware configurations.

Apograph can arrange a subscription for any current HP Inc notebook, 2-in-1 or tablet, desktop, thin client, monitor and accessory (including printers).

Frequently asked questions

When can my HP Subscription start?

Typically, it takes a few days to set-up a new agreement. Once that’s done, your Subscription can commence at a date of your choice (subject to product availability). You’ll be invoiced at the beginning of each month, commencing in the month after you receive your equipment.

Can a HP Subscription be cancelled?

HP Subscription is, essentially, a financial agreement and so allows for cancellation during the first 15 days (from receipt of equipment). Thereafter your business is responsible for all the monthly payments for the duration of the agreement.

What happens at the end of your subscription?

You’ll be notified 90 days before the end of your HP Subscription, so you’ve time to start thinking about a new subscription. Should you need to, you can extend your existing subscription, on a month-to-month basis (although your extended warranty will have ceased). When your subscription is finished, equipment is returned to HP where hard drives are erased of any remaining information.

What happens if hardware is damaged during the subscription?

HP assumes fair wear and tear and seems to be quite pragmatic about offsetting instances of heavy and light wear. In some cases, there may be an equipment repair fee.

What happens if hardware is lost or stolen during the subscription?

Customers are assumed to have existing policies and procedures to cover the loss or theft of hardware, so the cost of insurance has not been built into the price of subscription. If hardware is lost or stolen, customers remain responsible for the remaining monthly payments plus a balance payment to cover the non-return of the unit.
